Rescuing a baby bird.

Well, we've had quite the day. It rained all day long, which was unfortunate because it meant that we couldn't see much of the Ottawa Air Show, which is taking place directly above our house. One bit of excitement though- we found a baby bird in the backyard. Ok, really our cat Mugs found a baby bird in our backyard. But the most important part is that we saved the bird before Mugs got too curious. We did some research online and found a local bird shelter that cares for sick and injured birds, and we will be bringing our little friend there in the morning. In the meantime, we have to feed it and give it water hourly. We are almost positive that it's a starling... and apparently baby starlings eat Whiska's canned catfood. This one loves it, so we're sticking with that for now.

Stay tuned...

After several years "off-grid", we have finally moved back into town (ish) and have high speed internet again! I cannot explain how happy this makes me... I feel completely out of the loop. Apparently there is a whole new world out there, something about you-tube... not sure how that works yet, but I will find out! So we're going to play a bit of catch-up here. Jack is now 16 months old, running all over the place, talking non-stop, and generally making a big mess everywhere he goes. He has survived the move quite well and is enjoying his new day care while Mom and Dad go to work. Mom is very much looking forward to summer holidays! Enjoy the pictures!

This is Jack's 1st Birthday cake that I made for him. (His piece didn't have candy on it...) He was a little baffled by everyone singing to him, but he had a great day with lots of family around.
